Hey guys new member from Tennessee here. I've owned a bx1870 since 2016 and recently hit a wall with an issue. Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Recently when I crank it as soon as I hit the Hydro pedal forward or reverse it activates the fuel cutoff solenoid and dies. Im thinking its a safety switch but can't determine which. If I unplug the solenoid you can mow for hours without issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Seat switch also known as an operator presence indicator.

Used to keep the operator safe from being able to move the tractor if not seated on the tractor.

You can check under the seat and see where the wires lead to. Inspect the wires for damage and the switch for full movement if you push the seat down. Also check the switch for electrical operation if it is being activated by the seat.

I took the seat switch apart today and cleaned and inspected the connectors. I also removed the switch under the seat , to the inside of the right rear tire that activates when you depress the hst. It was pretty funky. So basically I'm witch hunting lol

Take a zip tie - bypass both switches and see if there is any difference - if there is, either the switch is bad or it is not closing enough to make continuity.

You'll have to elaborate on the zip tie bypass method. While I'm mechanically inclined I guess I haven't added that technique to my troubleshooting arsenal lol.

Try this -not sure your switches are aligned like this, but this should work
