BX1860 slower in reverse, slight whine

Hi,

I am new BX owner (bx1860 with 180 hours on it) and it I took it out for its first mow today.

I noted that the tractor is only about 60-75% as fast in reverse as it is in forward and that there is a bit a reverse whine. Is this standard for this tractor?

One other random question - is it OK to lift the mower deck while its running (for clearance)?

Its not uncommon from what small amount of experience I have for hst to sound different in reverse.
Im not sure about the mower deck.

Typically reverse is slower. And noise would be different.

Reverse is very much slower than forward for safety reasons. I would also call the normal operation of a BX trans VERY whiny so if yours is only a little whine you're doing better than most

HST's are loud in general. When you factor in the position and ROPS system location you can expect to hear quite a bit of it as normal operation.
