Hi-

Earlier today I removed the dash on my BX1860 to replace it with a new one. When I got to removing the ignition switch from the dash panel I destroyed the plastic nut that holds the switch to the dash (I didn***8217;t understand that this was actually a nut, thought it was part of the dash, and went caveman on it). The switch itself is fine, but now I need that nut.

Is the nut itself sold separately from the switch? Is there possibly something else I could use (another type of nut maybe)? I***8217;m really hoping that I don***8217;t now have to go out and buy the entire switch just for that nut...

Thanks for any help!

I looked up parts diagrams at https://apps.kubotausa.com/illustrated-parts/ and did not see a separate P/N for the nut.

Guessing metric - - What's the OD you're trying to match? Does it look fine or coarse thread?

Is the nut maybe something you could cross with a faucet nut? That'd be too easy - - I've got 8 or 10 or them kicking around....;)

I've had some limited luck with metric stuff in the Nut/Bolt/Fastener Aisle at Hardware Store, Lowes, HD, etc.

Try Napa to see if they have it.

They have some odd parts like that available

I’m surprised the nut wan’t included with the new switch. Did you buy that switch NEW? ...and was the package UN-opened?

Geo. the first post explains he was intending to replace the dash not the switch. He messed up the nut on the switch trying to get the switch out. That's why he'd like to find the nut and not have to buy the entire switch to get it.

Yea, exactly, I really did a number on the plastic nut. No luck finding anything that would work locally. Damn...

I have repaired several plastic nuts with gel-type superglue. Of course one has to have all the pieces.

If plastic is not superglue compatible, pipe cement or acetone may act as a solvent-weld to hold together temporarily. Then epoxy a secondary ring or washer to one side for reinforcement.

Now here is where you need a neighbor, friend or a family member with a 3D printer!
Or, run into someone who is a PackRat.
I"ll try to remember to do a little digging tomorrow :D

Send me the dimension across the flats, thickness, thread diameter and pitch and I can print you one. I have two 3D printers, I'm always making something for myself or a friend.

Like this pen/pencil holder.

Thanks for the offer, that's really generous! I wish I would have seen this sooner but I ended up finding a used switch that had the nut and just re-used that. Again, much appreciated!
