hope you guys can give me some advice..its a 03 bx1500. i had to replace the powersteering hoses from the pwrsteering unit (under the dash) to the front cylinder. seemed fine for a couple of uses, then i noticed that sometimes it wouldnt steer left the way it was supposed to. i tried turning the wheels and cracking the hose fittings in an attempt to bleed the system. seems to have air in it,but cant get it out.
then i start thinking..maybe the powersteering unit (under the dash) is going bad..and thats why it steers right fine, but not left. so i switched the hoses around so the steering would operate backwards...sure enough it would now steer left but not right. so,i swapped the hoses back to the proper location and now it wont steer left or right the way its supposed to.
if you turn the wheel slow (engine running) it will just freewheel. if you stop and turn it the opposite direction..then back again quickly it will steer.if its freewheeling you can also jerk the wheel and it'll catch and go.
ive tried working the steering back and forth with the filler cap off (hoping it may push air out that way..no change.
is there a bleeder somewhere ive missed?
is my powersteering unit going bad?
is the main hydraulic pump going bad even though 3pt. and deck lifts are still strong? the front loader is still strong as well.
is there a proper way of bleeding this system?
tractor has 480 hrs.
please pass along any help you can...i really need to get her back up an going..but cant afford the huge dealership repair prices.
thanks

The fact that you've isolated the fault to the left side ( having interchanged
pipe-work ) rules out a main hydaulic fault . It's probably the steering
assem valve . This is K2561 - 41510 . I can't see how a sealed pressurised liquid system would get air all the way down there ....... Price a new unit.
I've just checked on Coleman's site ; they're UDS700 ! ....... maybe repairable sticky valve
