Hi all
Neil Messick has a new video about a 2-piece cooling fan that makes replacement much simpler.
For those operating BX machines this seems like a great idea.
Y'all might want to check your fan to see it's operating properly and undamaged.

Although the fan is in good shape on my BX, I have thought about 3D printing a 2 piece fan to replace it if it ever failed.
Wonder why i took so long to finally come up with something that obvious.

Because Kubota dealers want to cover the labor costs for the replacement fan, it usually takes at least a few hours, depending on how many tractors are in the shop and how big the shop is.

My mower is always on in the summer. When I remove it for winter duties, bought a plate to cover the underbelly. Do these fans stand up to normal use without getting dinged by a foreign object or do they fail on their own after a few years? May order one of these just in case.

I had to replace the front CV joint boot on my BX1880. Since it has a spacer between the propeller shaft and engine crank, there is no need to move the engine forward. Still, it was no walk in the park, because both CV joints are spring loaded axially and you have to pry to get the spacer out and is even harder to get it back in. So if replacing the fan can be done without messing with the CV joints (y). Another thing I like is the "rim" around the fan. I think it adds additional protection to the fan by preventing stuff from falling from above or bouncing from below into the blades on the fan. There is no protection if the fan gets "harpooned" through the blades, though.

I said 7.5 years ago, someone should make the 2 piece fan. So far 1600hrs , 80% in heavy offroad use, and the original fan is still A-OK, though my BX23s does have the factory guard.
