BX Bucket edge, Piranha tooth,pro or straight? Pros and Cons of each.

I am leaning towards the regular Piranha bar, I use the bucket for different tasks and I also am trying to protect my bucket. The Pro bar I don't think I can justify the extra cost. What are your guys thoughts for all around use.
Does the Piranha improve digging? Hinder back blading ?

a 'toothed' bucket is usually used for digging, chewing up 'dirt'
a 'smooth' bucket is usually used for grading,or precision picking up of material..

I installed the Kubota heavy duty blade for Winter use( snow.....) come Spring, will swap out for my homemade toothed bar(dig dirt,flip compost, scrub removal, etc. ). Yeah, seven 5/8" nuts/bolts/ washers to deal with twice a year......

I have the regular Piranha. Improvement digging in compacted soil is quite significant. Root cutting ability is a vast improvement. We don’t have much rock in our soil so can’t comment on performance in heavily rocky soil. Moving loose aggregate, it protects the factory edge but performance increase is negligible in my experience. If you ever dig with it, it’s worth every penny plus some.

I had thought I would need to remove it for back dragging finish work. So far, I haven’t needed to remove it, but it’s only two bolts if I ever need to take it off.

No experience with the other two options. As a general observation, buckets on almost every loader of any sort I’ve seen have teeth of some type if they are used for any digging in compacted material. Smooth fronts are used for uncompacted material such as sand, gravel, manure, etc.
If you dig, get teeth.

I have the standard Pirahna, and I love it.
It digs easily in our rock hard soil, and it cuts roots that stopped the tractor cold without it.
It also makes sprinkling/spreading a little more even & controllable.
Lastly, it's a quick easy on/off, just two bolts.

My Bucket is not drilled,
I use this tractor for things around the yard so I don't make a complete mess. I have a mixture of Rocky top soil and once down a little bit it turns into Hard Pan/Clay. There are certain parts of the yard where the dirt is decent as well. I have a fairly large yard so it does varies. I also use this tractor to move saw dust and clean op the paddock.

I have the regular Piranha Tooth Bar, it is a HUGE benefit in digging . . . I have both clay and rocky soil, no noticable difference in back dragging from the factory bucket.

Great for removing brushy growth, dig the bucket into the soil about 1/2", and just scoop them up, it will either grab them and pull out with roots, or cut them off!

I have the Piranha Pro reversible bolt-on bar. Like others said the improvement in digging ability is impressive. I have to pull multiple bolts to spin it in the middle to reverse it, so unless I'm doing lawn work I don't reverse it.

Using the tooth bar (not Pro) when digging and no bar (standard bucket) would do well also in my usage, though back-dragging with the bottom of the bucket alone (no sharp bar edge) kind of suck--uh, "isn't as good."

Customer support and product quality are awesome. They're not "cheap" but the quality made me say, "Yeah, this is well worth the price."

I'd go Piranha bar as a replacement bucket edge. I personally wouldn't find finer teeth helpful for digging. Might make grading smoother.

Joe, I can't comment on the Piranha bar, but if I recall correctly, most people advise against "back blading" with the front lip of the bucket to avoid "bending/twisting" it.

I think the proper way is to use the "heel" of the bucket for that operation.



Although, I am being a bit hypocritical when I say that, cause I have used the front lip on "certain occasions".
