Need to remove the chain and gear from the back, along with the bearing. Then remove the bearings holders for the auger and the gear box support bracket. The whole "Tee" assembly will pull out the front.
FYI... When I had the fan out I installed a grease fitting to it. It doesn't rotate on the shaft unless shear pin is broke, but the grease prevents the fan from rusting to the shaft.
