BX-25 tie rod boots

After a long day of working the Bx, I went to grease her back up and noticed the tie rod boots were ......shot! I have read where sticks and what not cause them to rip......bull stuffing.......these are rotten - the rubber looks as if is has been out in the sun for 20 years! And of course the warranty ran out last August......this is a rubber failure - not a user error!

Before someone jumps in and says " just replace the joints.....they arent that bad"

they are not replaceable (boots) so you have to get the whole tie rod ends......each side! Seen costs somewhere around 45 each....not sure about that however......

this will have to do for the short haul.

Unfortunately for me, I had already replace the whole rods on mine before I found this.

I looked at that site several times during my searching .......

with that number - easy to find on Messicks and other places....

22 bucks plus shipping is better.......than the $100!

I had the same problem with bx23. I used a bicycle tube, ran for years and I sold it that way. $6.00 to do both sides. I think you have it already.

just a thought on using horizontal rubber wrap. Consider doing one layer wrapped then taped down tightly in a few spots. Then another layer wrapped "opposite direction" then zip tied. The opposing directions will make it harder for water and dust to work its way in.

Thank you, great information. During my routine visual inspection of the tractor,
I too noticed that the boots looked like they are drying out. 2014 bx25/stored inside.

I've had boots split, rot or deteriorate of other causes. I've always gone to NAPA or O'Reilly and buy a single boot. Just gave them a measurement of size I wanted. Always got something for under $10.

It's a dust cover!! If you have to have it protected get some "Rescue Tape". It sticks to itself and it won't come off until you cut it off, and you can wrap it as tight as you choose.

After hearing of this problem, I rapped water discharge hose on mine. Still on at 1,100 hrs.
