Equipment
Kubota 3430 (sold), BX2200, Loader(s). box scrapper, tillage equip., post drill.
I bought a BX2200 with a locked trans. The problem discovered was a hydraulic piston pin thrown out of the piston cavity and cylinder and wedged into the clutch body. The previous owner said he was operating the rototiller when he turned and went down a short bank. The trans locked and the tractor died. Apparently the bank lifting on the tiller and 3 pt allowed the pin to exit the piston cavity and cylinder. Has anyone experienced this type of failure?
The trans and HST were removed, disassembled, cleaned and put back together. No damage was done to the unit. There was some minor metal particles in the trans, but the HST was clean. The final install awaits a seal and bearing for the HST.
The assembly of the trans was a three dimensional puzzle. It took me several tries to discover the sequence needed to get all the parts together. I had to laugh at the manual, which said install the gears simultaneously. That defies the laws of physics. I made a note on the sequence if anybody needs it.
