I have inherited a Kubota Rear Finish Mower (RFM-60). I need to order two spindle assemblies. One dealer is telling me it is a Bush Hog ATH 60 and the other is telling me it is a Landpride AT2560? Spindle assemblies have three attachment holes. Would anyone know the origin of this rear finish mower? It has been very hard to find any online information on it. Model number is RFM-60 and Serial Number is 96100762. Thanks, Ikymojoe

The mower looks in pretty good shape, are the spindles shot, if not take them apart and replace the bearings. If they're shot remove the assembly and let them match them up. You may want to also try tractor supply they have various brands. Also if the spindles need attention, new idlers may be in order, fresh oil for the gear box and a new set of blades.

How would I test the spindles to see if they are shot? I know the bearings are bad. I have changed the gear box oil, blades are fairly new. I plan to sharp them. Again, mainly looking to see who might have manufactured it for future parts reference. Thanks, Ikymojoe.

It isn't going to hurt to take the spindles apart if the shaft and housing are good replace the bearings and seals. All three spindles should be the same. If you do one do them all.
The spindles I’ve seen damaged have broken housings, so it’s pretty obvious. Several brands of mowers use the same spindles with slight differences in how the blades/pulleys attach.

Agree to legal, then put in your RFM-60 model number. I see the parts diagrams and part numbers for the spindles and all the component parts of the spindles.
If anyone has a similar finish mower, and your need parts, this model it is a Bush Hog ATH 600 (Air Tunnel Model) manufactured for Kubota. That is, what the Kubota service folks are telling me...

I had to resort to rebuilding the spindles. I have the bearing, retaining rings, and seals. However, I noticed the bearing are not "tight" against the spindles (freely slip up and down the spindle shaft) but are "tight" in the spindle housing. Is this normal or should the spindles be "tight" against the inside of the bearings? Mainly wondering if spindle is too worn and needs to be replaced.

Standard practice is one or the other is tight and the other clearance. Up to the designer to decide which is which. Unless you can see damage I would not worry.
