Have not gone to check for hardware yet but was wondering if anyone tried this, basically weld on double flange, hook in middle and clevis to hold it all together. This way I will have both a hook for chain, and a clevis for rope/straps. I plan on welding hooks on ends of buckets too but wanted both in the center.

Grege,

been done a lot around here - many people with different ideas and pictures too!

Personally I prefer NOT to weld to the bucket - rather a flat plate and bolt on. I will tell you this - if using the chain/hook binder - use 5/16" hook!:D:) Why? cause a 1/4" and 3/8" chain will both "bind" in it.

Good point on the 5/16, and noted on the welding to bucket, I guess I can fab up two plates and weld hook to one and clevis mount to the other like Kens Bolt on, I live in Canada so getting Kens bolt on can get expensive when you factor shipping and Duty/Brokerage fees. Thanks for your feedback

Another option that could work for you is an excavator style hook welded on in the center.

Anything welded to anything is only as good as the welder!

My tradesmen sons call me eagle$#|¥ Corney and it's not because more is better?

I learnt about engineered bolt on eye bolts that require a hole drilled and a good Crosby clevis with a rated lifting sling/ chain to be safe.

Not expensive but reliable and safe!
