I managed to break of the right fluid filter house or base on my l4600 HST and realized it when I lost forward and reverse and hydraulic power. It broke off the threaded portion at the filter.

Is this base difficult to replace?

After replacing the base and the filters and fluid, show it return to function?

Do you have a picture you could post?

IF and when you do fix it ............ and then fill it .......

start the tractor - BUT do NOT move it ..........

Let it idle - allow the pump (which was dry) to push all the fluid out and about and get the air out.

Allow to run at least 10 minutes - only then you will know if there is any damage.

Then you will need to use the FEL a bit to push THAT air out too.

I’m surprised that even the threaded stud appears to be part of a casting… instead of a cast base with a threaded stud/insert. It appears to me the entire casting will have to be replaced. Go to the Messicks site and look at the parts schematic to see what you have to order.

it's not too bad I did a ton of them. Worst part is getting to that one darn bolt! You'll see what I mean when you start disassmbly. I found it easier to remove the floorboard, then u can get onto everything just fine including the washers and o-rings. Look closely for bent tubes. There's one tube that just pushes into the housing, if that one bends a lot of times it'll leak. "normally" you can eyeball it from the bottom side, if the tube looks like it's off-center in the hole, order a new tube...also the bracket that holds the floorboard/filter housing assembly...it bends too. Got to be real mindful with that part of the tractor else it'll bite you in the tail.

Sorry to hear of your 'oops' moment. From what previous posters have said, doesn't sound terminal though. Good luck witht he repair! Also giving me incentive to be double extra careful in working in the woods.
