Hi everyone, new member here and I see a lot of great posts in this community.

Was hoping to get a few opinions on my situation:

Got a brand new SVL65-2 the other day, delivered to my property. After 2 hours of operation the RPM shot up and clouds of white smoke were pumping out of the exhaust. I shut the machine off to find antifreeze splashed all over the engine. Checked the oil and it seems like there is diesel in the oil. From what I've checked into so far probably something to do with injector seal etc.

Regardless, the dealer came and picked up the machine and gave a loaner (which is working great). While they diagnose the issue, my main concern is how hard should I be pushing to get another brand new machine rather than have my original one fixed and returned to me? Am I over thinking it? Just in my opinion a brand new machine that breaks 2 hours into usage seems like bad news for potential future issues, and I am not certain how big of a job fixing the current issue would be as well.

Any thoughts from others on whether it's worth fighting for a brand new machine or let them repair this one? Thanks everyone!

In my state you have 30 days to cancel any new purchase (minus a reasonable fee for useage). With only 2-hours of operations.... I’ll bet you have a good chance to get a completely different machine, if that’s what you want.

I am glad the dealer gave you a loaner !

I would either expect a new machine and then allow that machine to be a future loaner ........ or have the dealer place in writing that yours NOW has a warranty that is longer than normal.

Someone forgot to torque a bolt or nut or something ...... and you should have a future protection for whatever damage it may have created seen or unseen in the near future!

I would push for a new machine .......

Thanks for your insights, that's my thoughts as well. I really like the model and performance so I'm not interested in purchasing something totally different, but I would really feel better about getting a brand new machine rather than my original one getting "fixed" and then given back to me.

I suppose an addition of some kind of very comprehensive extended warranty perhaps would be a decent compromise but I'm not sure if that's worth it. They really should just take it and use it as a loaner or demo or something.

That's a tough one. When I thought my machine was part of a recall last year that would have involved splitting the machine I was debating the same thing. The fact that the dealer picked yours up quickly and gave you a loaner says a lot about them. It will be interesting to see what they say the damage is and what they would do if it was their own personal machine. Keep us posted.
