Brake repair

Recently purchased a 3901 with 215 hrs. Found that the left brake goes full travel with no resistance. What damage has been done and how do I correct it.

Get a Workshop Manual (WSM)

check out page 445 showing the structure.
First ensure that all the linkages are tight and not stripped out allowing the levers to move without actually activating the brake system.

Page 446 shows the actual mechanism in the rear wheels.

Thanks. Getting the shop manual. Looks like a bit of work to replace the brakes. Wondering if brake lining material is now in trans. fluid filter.
