Dusty's answer is probably better but another general rule is don't go any wider on the box than the width of your rear tires.

I would think so. If you don't already have added weight in the back by means of filled tires or wheel weights then this could be next on your list. As the scraper loads up then the rear tires are going to need more traction and added weight is the answer.

This can be a Pandora's Box depending on what sort of grounds you are driving on. For instance my area is hard ass dirt basically concrete in the summer. In the winter with the rain and melted snow this concrete dirt becomes soft mud. An increase in weight of the foot print is great for the hard surface but in the mud will now be a nightmare.

I will have to ballast my tires in the Spring.
I will source a box scraper no longer than 48 inches wide.

Its funny that you mentioned adding weight.
I had 20 yards of gravel dropped off in the Summer.
I was excited to use my tractor for the first time.
My rear tires kept getting bogged down and I was getting stuck.
Ended up spreading it all by wheel barrel.
Just the other day I drove over the trouble spot with my mower deck on.
I thought I would get stuck but it was easy as pie.
All I needed was weight in the back.
I've only had this tractor since August. Chalk that up to being a rookie.

meanjean, isn't it funny how steep the learning curve is when using a tractor for the first time? Boy does it come fast. Sounds like you already knew what you needed to do but just needed a little reassurance.

I do feel bad for you when you used the wheel barrel to take the place of the tractor. I bet that was very discouraging for you. We have all been in that situation but with different tasks and can't help but feel kinda let down by the little orange giant.

Keep your positive attitude and just come to terms with what the Kubota is capable of and you will never be disappointed.

When you get the scraper please post some pic's of your new toy, I'm sure she's a beauty!

Meanjean, when you get that tractor set up right you are going to be amazed at what it can do. And loading the tires or wheel weights is a good start. Next you will have so much traction you will be pulling the front wheels off of the ground. Then you will need weights on the front.:D You are going to be so:eek::eek: that you used that wheelbarrow. Dusty
