Anyone have a favorite you tube for setting up and using their box blade. So far, I don't find the box blade very useful.

I'm out at my place and my tablet is doing a good job of playing adds and seems incapable of playing you tube. I'm still trying to repair hog damage. The other day I found me a spot about 40 feet by 40 feet with powdered dirt. After a couple of hours it looked worse than when I started. 1st I used the rippers but it kept building up grass and dirt which won't level. I could shake the dirt out of the grass but this is very time consuming up and down from the tractor. Fairly obvious I need a hydraulic box blade being handicapped.

I tried out the box blade on about 5 acres up front using the rippers. Most places it just rode on the top of the ground and did nothing. I do not have draft control. I will wait until I have about 1/2 inch of rain and see what happens.

I have been keeping the front of the box blade several inches lower than the back. So far I believe a box blade is a wonderful tool for spreading fresh topsoil.

I don't know linking to another forum is allowed or not, but on tractorbynet.com there is a great thread on using the box blade. 11 pages of great info.

I read that thread multiple times and when I used my BB the first time I had no problems.

If your BB is not digging in with the teeth down, try adding some weight on it. I didn't have to add any weight to mine and it dug right into the TN Clay I have for a driveway at my hunting cabin.

I had no problems finding the sight and then the forums, did a search for box blades. Problem is my 4g tablet is so slow. Searching for the thread you mention is very time consuming, could you please give me a link to the particular thread.

I got a box blade last fall and I love. I have mine set so the rippers are in the first notch and dig about 1/2 and the back hits first. If I want the rippers to dig I just lower the hitch arms a little I use mine in the woods on my trail system so the first pass I used the rippers as a rake and got all the leaves and sticks racked up in piles. I pushed them on the trail with the loader on the way back. You will not get a good job of leveling unless all the dead grass is moved first. Onc I have done this I dropped the arms a little lower so the rippers dig lightly and then go to town. I was amazed at the job it did on my trails. Filled all the last 20 years of potholes in in one pass. I had one area I did not do and went to it the other day. The grass in this section was about 2 foot tall. Took 2 or 3 trips to remove most of the grass and then I leveled the center ridge down. My soil is sand, sand loam, and clay. From what I have learned so far is each job you may need to change the angle just a little, but I do this with the arms from the tractor seat. I have a problem turning around in the seat and looking back so I do all my work goingforward
