I got a box blade last fall and I love. I have mine set so the rippers are in the first notch and dig about 1/2 and the back hits first. If I want the rippers to dig I just lower the hitch arms a little I use mine in the woods on my trail system so the first pass I used the rippers as a rake and got all the leaves and sticks racked up in piles. I pushed them on the trail with the loader on the way back. You will not get a good job of leveling unless all the dead grass is moved first. Onc I have done this I dropped the arms a little lower so the rippers dig lightly and then go to town. I was amazed at the job it did on my trails. Filled all the last 20 years of potholes in in one pass. I had one area I did not do and went to it the other day. The grass in this section was about 2 foot tall. Took 2 or 3 trips to remove most of the grass and then I leveled the center ridge down. My soil is sand, sand loam, and clay. From what I have learned so far is each job you may need to change the angle just a little, but I do this with the arms from the tractor seat. I have a problem turning around in the seat and looking back so I do all my work goingforward
