I am looking to get a box blade for my machine. There are a few on craigslist, but I want to make sure that I have enough power to use the blade. I don't have many rocks on the property, but clay is pretty prevalent (north carolina)

Running a 60" on my 26 hp seems like a pretty good match for me. Good added ballast and when dragging any heavier would be more than it could handle. I'd think a 72" would be as good a match for your tractor in a medium duty type blade, the weight of the box blade helps.

Don't waist your money on a light duty one which is what I did. It didn't take long to break it but the Kubota dealer here was good enough to give me my money back on a trade for a Woods. This thing is built strong...I think the tractor would break before it.

Get the heaviest duty strongest built you can afford with depth-settable and removeable teeth.

We've had great luck strapping a piece of broken sidewalk on top of the blade for weight configured so can access teeth.

Be cautious handling when unhooking due to weight regardless of concrete.

I saw a guy once turn the teeth "up" to get them out of the way and managed to rip a rear tire when he didn't tighten up the side slack at the lift arm turnbuckle.

I've used a 72" woods behind my L3010 with no trouble except that I once caught a tree root that stopped me with the R4s spinning. I just got another run at it and took it out in pieces.

I agree with Bearbait, go ahead and buy a quality built heavy duty boxscrape to begin with. I have a 5 1/2' bushhog brand that I'm very pleased with. I wouldn't want one any bigger for what I do, I max my tractor out all the time.

Okay, I've heard about the woods brand, and of course land pride (they made my bush-hogger). Any other suggestions about where to get a good quality and affordable product. I plan on steering away from tractor supply like places. Anyone ever buy from everything attachments? they are located not far from me, and also have free delivery. Again there is always ebay or craigslist, but always the risk that I am just inheriting someone elses headache.

The everything attachments blade looks to be well built...similar to the woods. Only difference is my woods weighs 514lbs and the LP weighs 417lbs.
Mine is a BSS60 which is more than enough to do my over 1km of driveway. Good luck in your decission

Everything Attatchments is OVER PRICED.... They include the "free shipping" into hidded fees with the sale of the attatchment. IF you want good quality then you need to get off some money and buy good quality. You get what you pay for so might as well make it right the first time.

My Kubota came with an older 60inch "United" brand with 5 removable and adjustable height shanks and it is a fairly beefy box scraper as well.
Make sure it has a replaceable curved cutting edge blade what ever brand you choose.

Personally I've been drooling over the Landpride MR15 series of box scrapers. I love the fact that you can manually raise and lower ALL the scarifier teeth at the same time. Well worth it if you use the teeth alot to tear up the ground. I'm sure that little slice of heaven will come with a pretty price tag.

WOW, never knew there was such a thing...that is sweet. Probably have to take out a morgage for it.

I use mine all the time to rip up ground to regrade. Luckly its only a 4 foot box and four teeth. But its still a pain in the ass to take all four off to raise and lower as needed.

Have you looked at the Leinback equipment? They are made near Winston Salem. Do not know about their box blades I have one of their disk and like it. Just a thought since they are in your area you might want to see what they have. To answer your question I have a 6' box blade.
