Box Blade Question

Have a 72' BB for my 3301. Can I use it going backwards? I just want to level out gravel going backwards, I am not trying to dig in put a lot of force of it.

Also I noticed that I need my sidearms tighten up quite a bit if I am going backwards so the sidearm doesn't drag against the tire. How tight should I make these? I feel like they should have a little play to slide side-to-side a few inches without hitting the tires, but should I keep them tight?

You can see on my BB that it has a rear cutting blade and can be used when going backwards. I believe that is standard for most BB, but since I haven't seen them all, that is just my guess.

My BB is snug with very little travel left or right.

Yes - backwards and forwards, most have two blades (front and back on the rear) for that purpose. Going backwards you do not have as much ability to carry material with you, because you do not have the sides to hold the material.

You will have to adjust your side to side motion range with the turnbuckles or pin/slots to avoid tire contact. I use a quick hitch, and that moves everything a little more aft giving the attachment more clearance.

Yes.

Also you can adjust your top link for cut aggressiveness.

Keep in mind that a 3PH is designed for pulling, rather than pushing...

I will also use my 3PH for pushing, with a rear blade or box blade. BUT I am not aggressive. Just move light stuff, or maybe snow...

Use the 3PH aggressively in the push direction, and take your chances. My way of looking at it anyway...Actually not sure of what the dangers are...perhaps just the possibility of bending the lower lift arms, or the top link?
