I have an L2850. I've noticed it's having more blow by than usual. It sounds like it has a lifter pecking. It seems to have the same amount of power, just wondering what I should do.

Check the compression --- should be 450 psi (a guess). Where is it relative to target? Are all cylinders the same? Does the compression increase if you squirt a little oil into the cylinder??
Blowby means that compression (and combustion!) is getting past your piston rings. broken rings? scored cylinders? overheated rings? Whatever! it has to come apart. It WILL NOT get better on it's own and it will only cost you more in the long run if you continue to run it like that.

Exactly what eserv said! I've got an old Ford backhoe with a Perkins diesel that just keeps getting worse! Harder and harder to start as time goes on. It's ancient, has been abused, and really isn't worth much, but I only need another 15 or so hours on it, then it is out-the-door! Shoot I've got blow by out of the oil filler cap it is so bad. It has paid for itself, and it's so old and run down, it isn't worth a rebuild. I'm just hopin' I finish up my landscaping before she goes tits up. If it were my little Kub, I'd get it fixed. Naturally all engines have some blowby, that is why modern engines have PCV valves, and why your tractor has a blow by breather. It saves on gaskets, but when it worsens, there is a major problem with the motor, and it needs a rebuild!

Welcome to the forum.
On the "pecking" sounds like it is valve adjust time.
On the blow-by..........is there any discharge?
If the engine starts easily and runs normally those could be signs that the amount of blow-by is not problematic.
If there is discharge from the draft tube or starting issues then there is mechanical damage and it is time to repair before something breaks any worse.
