The other day I bought a used 14 hp Billy Goat blower, and it is in fine shape. Of course I won't be using it for awhile, as it is full time winter in Maine now. But I wanted to service it for when I will use it. I have a unique problem. I can see where the engine gear oil get filled and drained, but the engine oil, I can see the fill, but not the drain. The oem, and videos etc online show nothing. if someone has one of these, just give me a clue. tnx

Post some pictures. If this is a walk behind unit, the blower is direct drive from engine, no gearbox. Atleast the 3 we have at work are.
Should be a simple drain and fill of the engine.

I am sorry I didn't elaborate on which engine it is. It is the Vanguard engine. I know there has to be a drain plug there somewhere.

Yes, I know, but I have looked even with a small flashlight but can't see one. I'm expecting to see one of those small 1/2 or 3/8 screw out bolt like the gear drain plug has. Vanguard engine 14HP

I'll have to look at my 16HP VG but seem to recall bottom of the fill tube, there's a drain port.
Old skool ,it was a pipe plug, new ones a plastic 'sleeve' you turn to drain the oil out....

It also has a second one in the same place except in the front.

Something like this? That is on a 40horse vanguard on a scag zero turn.

If that is what you have, that is the engine drain.

Well, If you can't find it or rare chance there isn't one (I doubt it)

You can always use a mighty vac.

I've used the mighty vac on a couple engines over the years that always seem to develop a niggling leak at the drain plug...

stick the tube down the filler hole, a couple pumps and it gets sucked right out.

Actually that concept is being used in a lot of big truck garages. All our new trucks get it installed.
It's a separate hose right to the sump.

(oil evacuation system)

It purges the oil filters /evacuates the sump and prelubes the engine for no dry start.

no spills either.
cuts oil/filter change time more than half.

Anymore - - seems like most of my drain plugs look like those the guys pictured, irrespective of the engine manufacturer.

I'd start looking for one that looks like that down at the bottom of the case.
