Used my one owner, 1994, 680 hour, B1750HST yesterday with rear blade and F & R 2-link, twist-link ladder chains to plow about 12" of snow and discovered that I could not turn the Bi-Speed Turn off. It's not frozen linkage, either corrosion or rust.

Tractor has been used almost exclusively to mow with 60" MMM and plow snow with 6' (now 5') rear blade and has never had a FEL mounted.

Bi-Speed has always been on when mowing and usually off when plowing snow.

Recently moved 1,750 miles and brought (only) my 1750 with me. It was in storage for about 18 months while new house was being built. Bi-Speed was on during storage and made no attempt to turn it off until yesterday. Bi-Speed works as it should but Bi-Speed lever at front gearbox appears to be frozen or stuck in On position.

Have only made visual inspection and all looks good.

Thoughts?

Found it.

There is a non visible, spring loaded detent ball behind the upper bell crank. It had somehow come out of its socket and jammed the bell crank. Was unaware of the detent mechanism and did not think that linkage was the problem upon initial visible inspection because both bell cranks would move slightly on their respective shafts. After removing linkage rod between lower bell crank and gearbox it became apparaent that problem was with upper bell crank.

Disassembly and reassembly with a dab of grease and things are working again.

Will need to completely disassemble, clean and lubricate when the weather breaks in the spring but assembly working for now.
