So my question/concern is the linkage bolts that connect the levers to the valve for the hydraulics on the backhoe. I was doing some looking over of the backhoe because I had a ton of play in the levers. So I took the cover off to inspect things. I discovered the lower bolts for the connecting rods to the hydraulic valves were pretty loose on a few, so I tightened these to full snug. Once I got everything closed back up, I noticed I now have some resistance in the lever when curling the bucket. Are these bolts suppose to be somewhat loose? Or is tight fine? Thanks…

I just checked, but I don't have the service manual for my 77.....maybe someone will post a link to one.

I recall correctly, when I looked at mine they were on the loose side.

Hard to explain in text, but the the end of the rod barely touched the valve.

I would have to classify them as "minimally snug" not "full snug"..

I am sure there is a torque spec somewhere. Maybe the Service manual would have it in there.

I would bet money that if there is a torque spec it is measured in "inch pounds". (i.e. 15-20 inch pounds)

If I remember correctly they need a small amount of play and they do use nylon lock nuts to hopefully keep them in place

Thanks. Weird thing about my setup, is the nuts are not the nylon lock nuts which would make sense for them to be, so I may have to change them over
