Looking for a smaller diesel compact. I will mainly be using it to cut grass. Also, could a FEL be mounted to any of these?

-B5100 4x4
-B6000E
-L1501 Grey Market (L185)

Any thoughts? The 1501 is a bit cheaper, the other 2 are about the same.

Thanks!!

If those are all that you have to pick from, I might choose the B5100 for grass cutting.

The B6000E is gonna drive you crazy IF you place anything to the rear PTO.....it spins backwards!

AS for the L1501 ......grey is typically gonna be harder to find parts for, depending on the model!

Personally - the best of that era or group would be a B6100 or B7100 - these are great long lasting machines and the B7100 can be found almost anywhere!:D:)

If I HAD to choose between those three... it would be the B5100 4x4.

Why, L1501 is Grey Market, and in invitation to grief finding parts. The B6000E is two wheel drive, and the PTO rotates the opposite of everything normal!

The B5100 is four wheel drive, a much more common to find machine for parts and 4x4 adds dramatically to it's usage.

But I have to agree with 85Hokie, look for a B7100 4x4. Very popular tractor, good power for it's size, holds it value at 30 years old!

B7200 if you can find it is a great machine. Having power steering option, HST, 4x4 will make it much more versatile. Also you can get them with loaders and the hydraulics are very strong on them.

Otherwise b5100 is significantly better than the other two.

B5100, but as far as getting a loader for it, not going to happen very easily!

I had a B7100, and they are one tough tractor. If you find one with an FEL, be aware that with heavy FEL use, the front ring and pinion can be subject to quite a bit of wear. Something to keep in mind while looking at used tractors.
