I am about to pull up the rubber-mat from the floorboard of my RTV because of reports by others theirs rotted-out due to trapped water beneath the mat.

While I don’t run my RTV thru deep water, I do wash the floorboard out with the hose and so it remaining wet beneath the mat is a concern.

I’m thinking of spraying down bedliner instead of that mat. While I’ve have professional bedliner sprayed on my truck and contractor-rack, etc., but have never used the aerosol cans to apply it myself. There are brands such as Herculiner, Rhino, Rust-O-Leum, etc.

Has anyone had experience with various brands, and/or any recommendations on which to use and how to apply?

I used Herculiner on my '98 Jeep TJ many years ago. I bought the Jeep back in 2000 and it had tan carpet and a rear seat. Within a couple of weeks of buying it I removed the rear seat and all carpet. I used a 3M pad to scuff 100% of the floor and some on the sides of the tub. I cleaned the surface with Xylene, and then applied the Herculiner with a roller and brush. I still have the Jeep almost 23 years later, and the Herculiner continues to be excellent. I've had no issues at all, and since it's not exposed to the sun much at all it hasn't gone "chalkly" the way it often does in a truck bed.

Good preparation is the key if you want it to last. I do have WeatherTech type plastic mats up front so that's protected the Herculiner from wear in the footwells.

I just used a cheap Amazon roll-on, on my truck bed, works and looks great, prep as the instructions say.

I see people doing this but wouldn't the noise level in the cab increase quite a bit with the padded mat removed?
Even stones coming off the front tires now startle me at times in my RTV-X1100C.

My experience-
The spray is not as good as the roll on. You can build up both but rolling gets it thicker quicker.

Me personally, I would use a rust inhibitor, and pop the mat back down.
I like the sound deadening properties of the mats.

But if you want it "bed lined" , Herculiner is my choice.

Roll on Herculiner has worked quite well on my L35's floor and backhoe floor.
If you like the mats, why not use them also...

Here is the type of roller I used

Last spring I did a light restoration on my G2160. I used Herculiner roll on for the floor pan. BTW I HIGHLY recommend getting rid of rubber mats. My pan was beginning to rust so I had quite a bit of sanding and refinishing under there before hitting it with my spray gun Kubota orange then the bed liner. So pleased I did it
