Most two piece buckle covers snap together with locking tabs. Locate the tabs and release them.
The replacement seat belts are shown with the ROPS.2) They don't sell replacement seat belts.
I was thinking they got drunk and then added all the safety features.I shot Sea Foam Deep Creep into it. Maybe something will happen.
Here are two facts that don't go together:
1) Kubota put 5 safety switches on this mower.
2) They don't sell replacement seat belts.
I guess after the lawyers made them put the safety switches on the mower, they went out and got drunk.
Kinda makes sense as you're NOT supposed to use seatbelt without the ROPS.The replacement seat belts are shown with the ROPS.
I replaced mine with an eBay model, about $35 today. Hasn't let me down yet. Check how it attaches. In case anyone cares, I got around to removing the old belt. I was able to open the latch by pulling on the plastic case until it snapped open. I think it could be pushed back together, but I have not tried.
I have not tried because the inside of this thing is mostly rust. There is no conceivable way to get it to work again. Rather than play around experimenting with aftermarket belts, I ordered a new Kubota part. I took my wife out to lunch yesterday, and they nailed us for $108, so I guess I should not be too upset about paying a lot for a safety belt.
The price I was complaining about originally now looks very good. It's a lot higher this year!
This mower really needs a safety belt, because there is nothing between me and the front of the mower. In the unlikely event the mower stopped suddenly, only a belt could prevent me from pitching forward. Not like a tractor, which has a steering wheel in the way.
