Hello Everyone....Long time Reader but pretty weak in the Posting and contributing department.

Since I have definitly taken more info from this forum then I have contributed I decided to share an upgrade I built for my backhoe.

After being thoroughly disappointed with the stump removing capabilities of my 16" bucket and after pricing out some of the options forsale online I decided to make my own because I was too cheap to shell out $500 plus (after exchange) for somthing I could make for under $100.

So after stealing some idea's from other posts heres the finished product....If it ever stops raining around here I might get a chance to use it.

That looks chewy. I cant see it not woking.
I built a ripper, first thing i did was stick it in a stump and pick up rear of tractor abd beat the crap out of it. Since then i have never questioned my welding ability. If i couldnt tear it off, neither could my supervisor ;)

If you add a small flame thrower you can enter it into robot wars!

Somwhat did you use for the bushings?

As ths is on my bucket list!

Flame thrower is a good idea...I like it. :D

I figured if I made it scary looking enough it might intimidate the stump into giving up.

The pivot point on my backhoe is on the boom and not on the bucket. I just copied the design on my bucket which is 1" ID pipe with a bolt through it on one side and then I just stacked 2 pieces of 1/4" plate on the other side so the pin isnt exposed.

Nice! Looks kind of what I did, but you took it a big step further. Took one of the scarifier teeth off of my box-blade and just bolted it to the side of my BH bucket. Works great in a pinch, but I like that beast you made much more!
Great work!

Looks mean! I think most of my stumps would just jump out of the ground on their own rather than face that!
Can't wait to see some action shots!

Well I braved the crappy weather and gave this thing a try.

The bad news first....The paint job aint so shiny anymore.

The good news....It didn't break in half.
Its always nice when something you welded doesn't immediatly fall apart

Worked pretty well....much better than the bucket.
First stump popped out so quick I decided to get a second one.

Second one put up much more of a fight.....Had some thick legs and was intertwined with two other trees and god know what else.

So 2 down 100 to go....last pic shows the forest that is coming down to make room for a second garage.
