Hi. New to forum. My sister-in-law has a B8200HST that belonged to her recently deceased husband. Has not been run in several years until I just got it running after replacing ignition switch and repairing the wire that goes from switch to starter. I do not have an operator manual. I was able to figure some things out and drive the tractor around in the yard. However, it moves AWFULLY slow!

I figured out the lever on right side that works in an "H" fashion has an effect on the speed, but it only changes it from extra-low to low. However, I noticed there is a pin that connects the shift lever to another lever below the "H" cover plate that is not engaging on the left.

Can someone offer a little bit of advice on which levers affect the speed and 4WD settings? I plan to get an operator's manual in future, but need to just get it operating first. How fast can the tractor go at high speed? At present, it will take eons to cut her yard!

Also, does it have a parking brake of any kind?

Please note that this is the first Kubota I've had any experience with. It really seems to be a great older tractor with front loader and bush hog!

Thanks in advance!

Joe

The parking break is a kick style break. It locks the pedal into place and to disengage you kick the breaks and it unlocks. There is a high/lo lever somewhere on the tractor to select faster or slower travel speeds. That lever is ususally clearly marked, llok for hi/lo. Could be an issue where you need to drain and flush the hydrualic oil and change the filter and add fresh. The HST is model has a hydraulic transmission so if the oil is old and nasty if can cause the tractor to lug.

Thanks, Eric. I was fortunate enough to find a manual for the B9200HST, which is a little larger than the B8200HST, but close enough that the controls are basically the same. I had to take the seat off and then remove the "H" speed control bracket and align the lever so the control would work OK. Someone had strong-armed the shifting and got it misaligned. So I'm OK on the controls, now.

However, I have two other problems - one major and the other minor. The minor problem is that the starter solenoid clicks but doesn't start. Sometimes after 6 to 10 clicks it will finally start OK. I think this is due to a bad solenoid.

The MAJOR problem is that all but one bolt on either side of the frame that attach the loader are gone! There does not even seem to be any threads for the bolts, although there seems to be bolt holes! The parts manual for the tractor and loader both do not show nuts for those bolts. There are also some holes in the side frame mount for the loader that seem not have any matching holes in the frame! The frame therefore is very wobbly, and has now caused the lower radiator hose to burst since the radiator mounting frame parts use the same bolts the loader does!

I am going to post these problems in the technical area to see if I can get any response on that. The loader is a BF-3ooA, which is the correct loader for this tractor.

Thanks for the reply!
