I just Purchased a B8200 that has not run in 4 to 6 years. I drained and cleaned the fuel tank. I replaced the Fuel filter and bled the air out of the fuel line per the owners manual. Changed the Oil and replaced with 10/30 Synthetic. It cranks and puffs black smoke out of the exhaust. But doesn't run. I tried ether in the air cleaner and it still didn't run. What are the next steps? I've never owned a Diesel before. So I'm at a loss at the next steps and what to check for.. What are the next step? Check the compression? If so how??
Is there anyone out there that has a Service Manual or is willing to share the pages for trouble shooting this.

Thanks.

If you keep trying to use ether to start it youll soon have a pile of scrap.
NEVER use ether or any starting fluid on a Kubota diesel.

Plus 1 on not using ether. I would go to the glow plugs next. Make sure they're getting power and that they aren't worn out. On mine they're supposed to be under 3 ohms when new and replaced when they start to get close to 10.

Black smoke on a diesel can indicate a too rich mixture. Check your air cleaner and look for any blockage in the air intake - mouse nests, etc. You should energize your glow plugs before attempting to start your engine. The manual should tell you how long - five to fifteen seconds may do it, depending on ambient temperature. As above, you want to make sure they are good and do get voltage.

Did you bleed the injector lines to the injectors?

Did you get good fuel flow out of them if you did.

Does the glow plug indicator heat up, when you turn the key backwards?

Throw the ether / starting fluid of any kind away!
