Brake pedal doesn't move at all, the assembly is frozen. Tried to split it, no luck. 6 bolts on the brake pedal side off and can't even get the assembly apart. An hour with pry bars. It seems like it's still engaged, but at the same time not, because there's no drag.

I have it split about a half inch. I can see inside, and it is rusty for sure. I don't want to brake anything though. Looking at the price of the parts, it'd be $600+ for a brake job, which just isn't going to happen unfortunately. HST is pretty good about stopping when the pedal returns to neutral, if I let go of the pedal it jerks me forward as it stops very quickly. I can also drop the blower if need be, but it's all flat here and can't imagine a situation like that.

I'd like to at least get it apart to clean, but don't want to brake anything. Should I just bolt it back together and call it a day?

The shoes need to come out with the cover, so work the brake lever back and forth as you remove the cover. ;)
