I posted this in the wrong section, my bad. Posting it here where more appropriate. The mind is the first thing to go. :)

I bought a Bush Hog heavier than the 370 pound one replaced, by 168 pounds. The front end is light now on my small B8200 tractor. I wanted to know how much weight approximately do I need to put on the weight bar on the front of the tractor now? I believe the front tires are those 11 x 4 standard tires. Could put some CaCl2 in the front tires to help, but that would not be enough front end weight. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some of the guys posted that they built a basket on the front of there tractor and added a couple bags of quickcrete to get the weight on the front end. I got a 2'x2'x1" piece of plate steel welded to the front of mine. But have had to strap a couple of cinder blocks if i'm mowing on a steep hill. I'm probably gonna go with the basket idea at some point just to give it a cleaner look, and weigh the steel and blocks to figure out what i need for concrete. I also have wheel weights on the front tires :) The main thing i had to do was keep adding weight till i got it nice and stable.

I built a front bumper for my L3200 with 20' of 1"x4" steel flat bar. About 260 lbs. Made a world of difference. For the B8200 I'd probably go about the same, or a bit less. That bush hog is making your front end light by probably about 300-350 lbs.
You don't want so much weight that the rear end is light when the bush hog isn't there, which is what happens when you have a 700 lb loader, but no rear ballast.

You indicated the replacement mower is 168# heavier and now the front is too light. I'd add about 168# if the old mower wasn't too much.
