Hey - Newbie here. Got a B7800, was running, then quit. Now I can crank engine over, but can't start. I have fuel to the fuel pump, nothing after. I have no power to either wire going to (what i assume is) the fuel cut off solenoid. I removed the solenoid, and if I throw 12 volts to it, the plunger oscillates rapidly. If I crank w the solenoid off, it fires.

So - the question is: should the solenoid plunger oscillate in and out? And why don't I have any juice to the solenoid plug - ie which interlock would allow the engine to crank, but the fuel to remain cut off?

Thanks!
Jack

The fuel solenoid only has power when you shut it off. It is on a timer that energizes the solenoid when you shut it off. If it runs when you take it out, it sounds like your solenoid is stuck in the off position.

Thanks so much for the reply. I assume that the rapid oscillation of the plunger when I throw power to the contact is not a good thing, and I'll need a new solenoid. The off position is plunger out, right? Is power thrown to it only when you shut down a running engine? Because I'm not seeing any power to it now with key on or off.

I don't think the 7800 has a shutdown timer on the solenoid. It is energized with the key on and de-energized with the key off. No timer:)

Kuboman you may be right, I was just assuming it was like some of the others. Sorry for the bad info, if that is the case.

I have not figured the pattern as to why some do and some don't have a timer but I am quite sure yours will not. You should here it snap on with the key and off with the key.

Thanks all for your help. I pick up the new solenoid friday, I'll then update everybody as to power on or power off. This is a great forum!
