Hi all,

We have a b7400 with only 620 hrs on it. for the most part I have kept up with the fluid and filter changes though I am 20 hrs late with the last engine oil\filter change (been doing them both at 100 hrs). Yesterday while my wife was beginning to roto-till, I heard a new sound coming from the tractor. I had her shut it down. Waited then checked the engine oil level which was halfway between add and full. I started the engine, Oil pressure light goes off, it is running fine but it sounds like there is a constant metallic tape coming from the valve cover area. So I'm wondering what the valve clearances are on this model, and has anyone had a tappet on one of these collapse? I'm thinking I'll do the oil\filter change then if no improvement take off the valve cover to see if there is excessive rocker to valve clearance. Thanks for any ideas.

John

Tappets can't collapse, they are solid. ;)
Clearance is .007 cold

Any Idea what the amount of side to side play for the first and last rocker arm is. I called the dealer around here and he could not find it.

There isn't a spec for that, it's pretty much irrelevant. ;)
Side play will not make noise, but loose or maladjusted rockers will, what are they at now?
