B7200 4WD model with position control TPH.

On startup with the hitch on the ground, if I pull the control lever back to somewhere within its range, the hitch will rise to a height corresponding to the position of the control lever. If I then push the control lever forward, I would expect the hitch to lower to the new lower height corresponding to the new position of the control lever. That's where I have some trouble.

When lowering the hitch, I have to move the control lever forward about an inch or so before the hitch will begin to lower. Then, when raising the hitch, I have to pull the lever back about an inch before the hitch will begin to raise. It's like there is a lot of free play somewhere in the hitch control linkage.

I have disassembled the linkage and levers, and even the control hydraulics, looking for wear or free play, and I can find no free play or anything anywhere in the system that would cause this looseness.

This amount of extra movement between the control lever and the hitch is annoying to say the least, and I suspect that it's not normal.

Anybody else ever notice this problem? Any ideas or fixes out there?

Thsts not the way its suposed to work. Its also not uncommon. The valve and/or linkage is worn out and needs to be serviced.
