I've been searching to buy a B7100HST Tractor with a 3 speed PTO. The manual shift Tractors have 3 speed PTOs, but the HST models that i have seen only have 2 speed PTOs. Does anyone know if the HST model ever
came with a 3 speed PTO and if they did what year did they make them.

but I can't recall any implements that run on anything other than 540 RPM.....
I run a Kubota B348-7 48" mower deck off the back of my B5100E, My Tractor PTO speeds are 603 and 963 @3000 engine RPM

The manual for the B348-7 mower deck indicates PTO should be run in second PTO gear 820-840 RPM

If the grass is a little high or wet I run the PTO in the lower speed(603) as it reduces bogging down however if the grass is short and dry I run the PTO in high speed(963 rpm)

I do not have a tachometer on the tractor so I do not know if I am running the engine at 3000 rpm but what I do is try to set the engine rpm so that it is not over revving and yet not bogging down. When all is set right the tractor and mower deck cut smooth and everything just feels like it is working right.

I know this does not answer your question about the 2 versus 3 speed pto on B7100's

Welcome to the forum.

I would ask what it is you want to drive at that high rpm.

There was a post on that topic about a year ago. As I recall, the higher speed pto was rarely used, and that was when you wanted to throttle back the engine rpm but keep the pto up to speed. With the small engine in the B7100 I don't think you could do a lot of work if you were not at full rpm.

Thanks for the Quick Reply. I presently have a Kubota B6000 with a 3 speed PTO, that I use to repair PTO driven Generators which run at 540 and 1000 rpm. I was hoping to upgrade to a B7100HST with a Loader and more versatility as far as implements go. The B6000 PTO runs backwards which does not matter on a PTO driven Generator, but limits the usage to drive other imlpements. Thanks: Al

The reverse rotation of the B6000 can be compensated for on some attachments such as a mower or tiller, On a mower you can replace the blades with those that have the cutting edge on the opposite side(reverse rotation) and with a tiller on some models you can switch the tines from one side to the other to reverse them. On the mower decks you may have to drill the spindle shafts and use castle nuts and cotter pins to keep them from coming loose or if you do not want to drill the shafts you can use 2 nuts and jamb them.
