Howdy,

My B7100HST (old type) has been idling forward a bit when I'm not applying pressure to the pedal. Naively thought this was normal and didn't do anything about it for a while (first tractor, still learning). I recently looked in to it, found I can make adjustments to the clutch that should fix this normally, but it seems like the screw used to adjust things has already been adjusted to the point where there is no more room on it. On top of this, last time I ran the tractor, when I press the clutch pedal all the way, I could hear a low rumbling noise, like a bowling ball rolling down an alley.

Based on my research of the above symptoms, I think I likely need to replace the clutch and the throwout bearing. I just wanted to check in here to see if there is anything else I should replace while I'm splitting the tractor, or if there's anything I should check before jumping to such conclusions.

Thanks.

It's not the clutch that's causing your creep (that's what most people call it) but the HST pedal has a linkage and damper that sometimes need some attention when they get some hours on them. All B7100HSTs are getting up in years and hours so they do need to be checked and probably adjusted. Handy OTT link to a discussion on this topic.

That said, you may have clutch problems and it may be time to do a clutch job. Once the clutch is fully engaged, it's locked to the transmission and rear end so any noises are not ideal.

Like tsp said, it's not the clutch that is causing the tractor to creep.
HST Neutral adjustment.
Get the WSM (aka service manual) off Kubotabooks.com and use it to adjust.

The reason your getting that noise from the clutch when you push the pedal down is you have adjusted the fingers on the clutch WAY too tight.
You will fry the throwout bearing if they are adjusted so tight that the bearing rides all the time.
