Well, after splitting the tractor three times, I found why the clutch would not disengage. The WSM finger heights would not work. I had to set them 10mm higher. The pedal now travels a very short distance before the TO bearing contacts the fingers. And beyond that, it disengages the clutch.

Has anyone experienced this? I guess it doesn’t matter, at least it functions now!

That's odd. Sounds like the pressure plate was not set up correctly from the mfg.

I had something similar with a dual clutch. The second stage would not release to allow the PTO to engage. I had bought the tractor from a (big name) skid steer shop. A farmer had traded the tractor in for a skid steer because it had clutch problems. They separated the machine and did their repairs but it took a couple of months getting it back together.

I took the tractor apart two times and the second time sent pictures to a known specialist in Deutz tractors. When I called him to see if he received the pictures he asked me if I removed anything when I separated it. In fact he asked me several times. Turns out there is a spacer about 3/4" thick that goes on the output shaft first and allows the second stage to work.

25 dollar part and I separated that tractor (60 HP) two times to figure it out!!

It is an aftermarket pplate. It must not have been built per OEM specs. I thought about finding spacer too. It was getting sooo frustrating, so I raised the fingers instead. Now, my output line on the hydraulic pump is leaking! Ugggghhhh!
