I struggled for a couple of hours to remove my B7100 transmission from the rear end.

I'd done this job before, but this time, something was really stuck.

The trans would move about 3/4" forward and back, but just wouldn't come free.

It seemed like the pinion shaft (I think Kubota calls this a bevel gear) or its bearing was stuck in the rear end housing.

Well, many hours of fussing, and some possible damage later, I got it free.

The problem?

The PTO overrun clutch needs to be rotated to a particular position (horizontal) else it blocks the pinion bearing.

The fix was so simple: Just grab the PTO shaft at the back, turn it a few degrees.

<sigh>

Live and learn.

Good to know - I was thinking a rotation of something should help.....

Reminds me of a time when I was working on Inboard/outboard Alpha one drive..... someone placed it back in neutral before we reinstalled the lower unit...... had to be in drive to align

stuff lines up for a reason!
