Is there an easy way to add a tachometer to a B7100 ?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking about putting a 3500 ? watt generator on a three point hitch and run it from the pto. I will have to run a jack shaft to get the right rpm's. The B7100 runs a little slow in PTO 1 and a little fast in PTO 2, if there was a tachometer I could figure out the PTO rpm's and then the pulley sizes on the jack shaft a lot easier.
Thanks, Jim

F2036, more important than the RPM or PTO speed is your HZ and voltage! While a generator that's designed for 540 SHOULD be at 60hz when you're at 540, it might have a slight deviation, or your tach might be slightly off. I learned this the hard way with my Hobart 10,000watt genwelder. I was adjusting the governor because the VOLTAGE was too high, but ended up dropping the HZ out of spec and almost fried everything in my house.

You want to ensure you're as close to 60hz as possible, the voltage regulator will maintain the 110-130 volts coming out of the genset. Adjust your RPM to get right to 60 and then you know where to keep it. The tinytach will help you get back to that point every time.

Take it from me, you do NOT want to have that generator too far off of 60hz (even 59 could cause issues!)

A Tach on the motor is good, a Tach on the PTO would be better! ;)

Harmonic distortion is a consideration as well.
