B7100 steering box? #?$@#$%@!!

Ok, can anyone tell me what this is? I just bought this (my first) tractor about 2 weeks ago. Mind you I know nothing about tractors, but I am mechanically inclined and pretty good at problem solving. While I am waiting for my service manual to come in I am working on what I can. I decided to look into the steering play issues and I was thrown a loop.

I have searched enough images of my B7100 HST-D to know this is not the correct steering box. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey Vic, thanks for the confirmation. I guess the play in the steering will remain and/or get or get worse until I find a used steering box. A new one is most certainly not in the budget at this time.

and yes the column is nearly vertical and the wheel is nearly hotizontal. I never noticed it until now.

Vic, in case you were curious, the Steering box on my tractor is actually a stock item from Boston Gear (bostgear.com) it's an F700 series worm reducing gear box. Pretty ingenious. Now that I know I can rebuild this as well. Or, I must make a choice on going back to a B7100 steering box. I think that will be may plan since I want to restore this tractor. (somewhat restore)
