Hi, I just purchased a b7100 hst that had been sitting in a storage container for a couple years. I wasn't aware that I wasn't supposed to push the accelerator lever forward while venting the air at the injection pump. The tractor didn't start. What damage could this of caused? Thanks

To bleed the injectors typically - IF YOU have a compression release - use it open, open bleed screw - throttle wide open - once steady stream of fuel, tighten nut, close compression release, preheat and start .....

IF no comp knob - open throttle, open bleed screw, until solid stream - close and preheat and start.

IF it will not start, repeat....... and repeat....

you know you are getting close when you have smoke!:D:)

Make sure you have good (fresh) diesel. Have your throttle lever full on. It needs to push fuel in to get air out. Loosen the nuts at the injectors (so the air can get out). Turn the engine over for 15-20 seconds, then wait for a bit so you don't overheat your starter. After several cycles of this you should see no air bubbles as the fuel comes out. Then tighten the nuts (19 mm, I think). She should fire off. May run rough of a bit, but will bet better quickly.

Welcome, and stick around and post some pictures and let us know it goes if you have additional problems/questions.

You did no damage.

You are supposed to put the throttle at full open to bleed it, so no you didn't do any damage. :D

Follow what the guys have said and if that doesn't fire it off check back. ;)

Changed fuel, fuel filter ,charged battery and a little starting fluid. It fired right up. It sat in the container for over 2 yrs. Now I have it home in the garage. Power washed, took it apart some, and gave it a good cleaning. Can't decide if I want to keep the original paint or repaint it. Any suggestions? I don't know if I attached these pics correctly or not. Thanks for your help!

You ask, "Any suggestions?"

Don't use "a little starting fluid". That will eventually lead to more/greater problems then you've already listed.

If your engine won't start with diesel fuel, figure out why and cure that problem.

Yeah, please don't use starting fluid on a diesel any more. It can do a lot of damage if it's not done exactly right.

As for the pictures, they are attached, but need to be surrounded by img tags instead of url tags. See the yellow icon of the sun over a mountain? That's the image tag icon for embedding the images. When you use it, the post looks like this:

(you could rotate the first one too. Then the optional vertical exhaust pipe will actually be vertical!)

"took it apart some" Ha Ha if that is "some" then you are hooked bad. Most make it about six months before showing signs.
Seriously, a little patina on a tractor is a good thing. Never afraid to work it hard because can't tell if that is a new scratched or not.

It looks like you have the upgraded rear hubs. Nice, one place the previous owner has saved you money.
