No power to the switch only ground. There are two fuses behing the panel look like thin radio fuses both were fine. The tractor has two switches the key ignition and the starter switch both not getting power just ground to all wires. Its been running then just stopped. Is there another fuse somewhere I missed? Alternator issue? Not sure where to start

There is a fusible link just above the starter, that will most likely be where the issue is.

Do you know what you are looking for? The fusible link looks like a loop of wire that is connected to a plastic wire connector. It will be plugged into a connector. It may still look like a wire but the damage is inside. It may be wrapped up in the loom with black electrical tape, or it could be completely removed from the tractor.

This may sound insulting but it is not intended that way!

No offense taken I just want to get to the bottom of this and so far I see nothing that looks like that but will keep looking

You may be able to simplify the process by using a volt meter or a test light. Start between the battery posts to be sure that it is producing a voltage at all. Then start probing at the end of the positive battery cable to see if there is power there. Then go to the fuse block and see if there is power on the incoming power supply side. If there is power there the fusible link is fine (or no longer there!).

If there is no power at any point before the fuse block then you need to figure out why not.

Good luck!

I don't know your tractor but fusible links come in different forms. Sometimes a loop but sometimes just a short section of straight wire that has what looks similar to a butt connector (and might actually BE a butt connector) at each end. It may not show any obvious damage. If you find something like that, give it the bendy test. If it's fried inside the sheathing, it won't bend like a normal wire. You'll feel it cracking inside the sheathing (insulation).

Look at the envelope to right of your screen. ;)

Well that model does not have a fuse link or a fuse on the main.
Look at the connections on the starter for a broken wire.

Ok I figured it out thanks to that manual. I had put in the new starter without paying too much attention to the location of the two wires. All good now and starts like it should.
Thanks for all the help!
