Okay, I went to get the new/ old backhoe that I purchased. The one part that will not come off is the adapter that links the PTO to the Pump. Any ideas, the push pin is no longer there, only a spring, which is now gone, but the adapter will not come off the PTO shaft. Any ideas without destroying the adapter?
Thanks
Jeff

If the pin and spring are both out, then the only thing that would be holding the adapter on would be rust.
50/50 mix of Acetone and ATF and tapping on the sides of the adapter should help break it loose.

Had one PTO that the button fell off, it still latched, but you had to use a bolt in place of the button to release the PTO. Tim

boz1989,
Now that you mention it, I did have one that the pin broke the top off of it and half was stuck in the hole.

Seemtns,
I would do like Boz states, try pushing a punch into the hole, I would use a punch smaller that the hole to do it. ;)

If the top half of the pin (the button) is gone, the lower half will still retain the adapter on the shaft. NIW & boz1989 are correct, the remaining pin half will have to be pushed in the release the adapter from the shaft. You might also have a rust/dirt problem to deal with even if the pin is disengaged. My B670 PTO adapter was intact but had not been off in 20+ years- it was a bitch to get off the first time. Lots of PB Blaster & patience.
