Newbie to forum…I purchased a used B3300 about 6 years ago. All has been working well…and still is. However, after brush cutting the other day, I noticed this part hanging down. What is it? What is it for? Where should it go?

Looks like there are 2 of them on a schematic I found on messicks. Here’s what I saw. PS that cylindrical item it’s against in grey paint is a filter installed at the factory and based on your tractors age is definitely due for replacement. 
Safety switch. I'm not familiar enough to tell you where it belongs, but look for an empty hole within the distance the wires allow you to reach. The hole would be the diameter of the threaded part of the switch. Then look at whatever would push the plunger on the switch.
Right now you can do something that the switch would normally prevent - start without pushing clutch pedal, move without being seated, etc. When you put the switch where it belongs you won't.

Makes sense and that was what I was thinking as well. Good advice to find a hole that it would fit into in the radius of the wires.
It looks like you will need to find a matching nut to hold it in place, there should be one on either side of the bracket it would attach to. That also sets the depth it needs to be at to work correctly. You can probably unplug it and bring to hardware store if you don’t have a large bucket of old nuts and bolts hanging around like I do.
