Hi everyone!

I'm new here so please, if this question has been answered, refer me to the right area :)

I own a B2910 that I bought for a wopping $1500 with a brush mower attached. The engine runs beautifully as does the power steering but I have two issues with the tractors that I'm hoping you guys can shed some light on. The first issue is probably a more involved issue to fix but not as pressing. The tractor is stuck in low gear. I only have 3.5 acres so the need to go beyond 6mph is really not that critical. The second issue may be related, maybe not, but is a little more annoying.

My 3 point lift is VERY weak. The lift wont even lift a box scraper off of the ground with no dirt piled up. The 3 point will HOLD almost any amount of weight on it if i can lift it up and will put pressure to lift things up, just not enough to lift any impliments. makes jobs like leveling and scraping annoying.

My question is simply, how do i go about diagnosing WHY this lift is so weak? Im more than willing to learn whatever skills i need to learn to perform the repairs. Im new to tractors but not to machines. Is there anything that i can look for/ do to eliminate several major items such as if i need a whole new pump? anything would be very helpful!

Just did one the other day with a weak lift. Found some debris in the position control valve, held a spool open just enough for it not to build enough pressure to lift any sort of weight. To fix, had to remove the rock shaft assembly, put it on the bench upside down, remove the valve and then remove all the spools to clean it/free it. This particular customer had been using junk hydrualic fluid so my thought is that it wasn't lubricating the spools as well as super UDT, but I may be wrong. One spool was completely stuck and the other one had a tiny piece of trash sticking it. I freed them and it worked, but I did notice when doing up an estimate that the valve assembly has a new part number-which could mean they changed the color of it, or it could mean they've addressed something else-like the material it's made out of...potentially avoiding the stuck spools? Dunno what they change...they never tell us.

Stuck in low could be anything from linkage issues to main transmission fork issue. The latter would mean splitting it open for a look-see. I "think" that you can actually remove a cover from the top and look into it, but don't think any servicing/repair can be done unless it's split. I could be wrong-didn't have to go that deep into the one I did.
