I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I've called around the bigger yards looking for a HST for B2710. Mine was toast from a helper who added fluid without first checking for water in the bucket, so I'm trying to find a HST 6c150-11603, 7,8, or 9. Any pointers would be great.

Thanks

Keel haul the helper... or at least don't let him live it down. Shit happens and as of late I cultivate it... remember it could be worse...

Looks like this might be a hard part to find used.

Did you do everything in your powers to try and save it? I heard sometimes some flushing will bring it back.

Yah we flushed it with the old diesel truck first. Then I ran cheap hydraulic fluid until the fluid turned clear. Then I drain it and filled with Kubota fluid. Did a pressure test and it drops a lot on high gear.

Yah. I drilled the idea of checking fluid before putting it in any machine in him. Sometimes people don't think before they do.

Need an opinion from you guys, should I pay $1000 for a used unit around 3300hrs or should I spend $3300 and get a new HST unit?

Whats your experience been?

New... that way you know what you are getting and won't have to worry about splitting the tractor again...

My opinion, new is best if you are going to keep it.

But....

You did not mention,
the condition of the remaining parts of your B2710,
the number of hours on it,
how long you plan on keeping it,
has it been a good tractor for your use or do you need a bigger/smaller unit?

Or....

Are you just going to get it running and sell it?

Any warranty or assurance that the Used unit is good or will be good?

Any background to the unit...IE it was rolled, it caught fire, it blew up the engine... details could help.

If it has some backing, or good history, I wouldn't hesitate going used. ;)

Well, the used unit has a one year warranty. As for the hours or condition of the overall donor tractor is unknown. Only know the HST is in perfect working condition and had strong output.

As for my machine, I would like to keep it as long as it keeps running. I mean its not a garage queen for sure. I paid 3800 for 4400 hour machine, it has seen better days, but the engine is still strong except for some ignition switch problem and also a fuel delivery issue. Pretty much have to keep the fuel tank topped off or else the engine would start to sputter. My local shop is telling me to buy new if I plan on keeping the machine.

What are your experiences on the life of the HST units itself? I have a B2150 with about 12000 hrs on it. The HST is still strong but the engine needs a overhaul already.

With a year warranty I'd go used, You'll know in minutes if it's good or not! ;)

NEW= Never, Ever Worked

Get the used with the warranty- if it were "as-is", I'd say otherwise, unless you saw it in action maybe. I'm guessing the "local shop" sells new.....
