My B2410 when i engage the 4x4 it engages and disengages when needed (clearing snow, moving dirt) i spoke with Kubota and they said it is most likely inside where the lever is connected to my question is how hard is it to open that (gear case ) under the seat to replace the spring etc

You going to have to get a service manual and read through the disassembly!
IIRC that is a mechanical engagement moving a gear forward or backward to engage.
If I had to fashion a guess, I would say a rounded teeth on a gear.
