Hi everyone,

I've had my B2320 for about a year and have been reading this forum for about the same length of time. I've picked up a lot from the discussions here. I thought I'd share my first modification to my Kubota and get your thoughts.

As you can see from the pictures I added a 72 W light bar on the front, 2 x 12W work lights to the back and a beacon to the top of the ROPS. I have no experience in metal fabrication so it's all just some pieces of aluminum and u-bolts. The zip ties on the ROPS are probably not the best way to hold down the wires, but they are all had at the house.

The switches and holder came from otrattw.net. Thought a lot about where to mount them and decided to cut into the blank plastic panel to the right of the driver. There is ample room underneath the panel for wiring. To power the green switch LED which illuminate the writing, i spliced into the red marker light at the back. The LEDs don't draw nearly enough to disrupt the marker light circuit. As an added bonus, the green LEDs only come on when I turn the headlights on.

I mounted the relays below the right side of the driver seat and secured all the wiring to existing Kubota wires. I plan to heat shrink the wiring harness to the relay when I get some. Hopefully this setup will provide me with years of trouble free lighting.

My only concern is that I purchased the lights before I knew about the limited capacity of the dynamo. I've been running the numbers and my power use is probably cutting it close. Here's how I figure it. The dynamo produces about 170 W (14 A at 12V). 96 W ROPS lights ( the beacon draws next to nothing), 14 W headlights ( I replaced them with LEDs, 7 W each), 10 W dash lights ( 2 W lights x 5 lights), 20 W tail lights ( i believe they are 10 W each bulb). Total i'm drawing 140 W with everything on. Is there anything else that will take power? I'll do the alternator upgrade but don't' really want to if it's not necessary. Thanks in advance for your comments

I like the set up you have here. It looks great. I just bought a 2320 the other day! I am looking to customize it later on. The light idea you have is just what I am thinking about. Can you provide me part numbers and where you bought them at?

the good news is that the stuff is rated at 12 volts DC......by the given rating, 14 amps at 12 volts.....

in the real world - the output of the dyno or alternator is closer to 14 volts when charging.......13.6 or so to be closer. In the perfect world - your amps flow is dropped a bit....closer to 12.3 amps....

would you ever have ALL of it ON at the same time??? Might have to pull the green acres and explain it .....:)

You have to be a little older to remember that !:D:)

When/If you decide to upgrade alternator...... I'd just have it done by an alternator shop that does their own rewinding etc. Far less expensive.
