B2150 Propeller Shaft Ball Joint Confusion

Received the new propeller shaft ball joint and the bearing holes are oblong shaped, not round. Same as the old one. One part number for ball joint, no revision numbers.


After much searching I found this clear pic of a new one:

The Messicks pic is not obvious. But now that I know to look for an oblong shape I can see it (pic attached).

The old joint had signs of wear beyond the original shape, but yes I did not realize that that joint design has slots for the balls, other joints that are similar do not.

As far as the clunk goes a little bit of wear in that joint will make a lot of noise.
Is that the whole issue, won't know till you get it all back together, you could (be it very unlikely) have something else going on in there, it hard to tell over the internet.

If the noise is still there upon rebuild, take videos of the noise, that will help tremendously.
