I just purchased a B21 from my friend. The front wheels are spinning opposite way by hand. I have to use some real force on the 4x4 lever to get it to engage and even at that won’t go more than 10’. Has a bad clunk up front. Was wondering if someone could help get me started on using in 2wd for now until I can find the problem and afford the fix. My first Kubota tractor so I’m a little timid but I know when I’m out of my pay grade.

There are to many variables to narrow it down, could be in the back (transmission) could be in the front axle.
Follow the WSM to track the issue down.

How can he use it in 2WD? Does he need to remove the driveshaft or just put it into 2WD? Or should he not use it at all due to potential damage to the front differential?

Yes I would not use it till it get fixed, as it could cause more damage.
