First, thanks in advance for offering to help a newbie to the forum.
I have a Kubota B1700 manual shift and the shifter just went "limp" yesterday while I was mowing. It did not pop or make any noise, but it just moves from any gear to another with no resistance.
The tractor is in neutral at this time, so it will not move.
Any advice on this? I've looked at the schematics, and there is a cover where the shifter enters the case, and it looks like the shifter rod just drops in the case and into the main rod. Do any of you know if the case has to be split to do this? The dealership presumptively (i.e. without looking) told me the case would need to be split, and said "maybe we can do a trade".....yeah, right.
There are 4 bolts on top of the case with a cover covering this section, so it seems it is there to allow for the repair without splitting the case.
Any advice here? Need help quickly as I will be speaking to the dealer tomorrow, Tuesday, July 17.
If the case has to be split, what am I looking at for approx labor cost or hours? The hourly rate is $70/hr.
Thanks fellas!
